This site is full of content management systems for you to try out. Every single CMS listed is completely open source and most are written in PHP. The really nifty thing about this site is that you can login as "admin" on any of these CMS packages and mess around as much as you want. Every two hours, the software is completely reinstalled, so you don't have to have your own site and you don't have to worry about breaking anything.
